Food and Environmental Allergies

Food Allergies

Food can either be your greatest medicine or a vicious poison. You can be eating the healthiest diet possible, but food may still may be contributing to your symptoms. Many believe that if they don’t suffer from throat closure, tongue swelling, and hives, they are not reacting to their food. Although these symptoms are typical of a TRUE food allergy, food sensitivities/ intolerances can present very differently and can be just as detrimental to your overall health if left unaddressed.

Common Symptoms of Food Intolerances:

  • Digestive: bloating, gas, indigestion, constipation, diarrhea
  • Respiratory: asthma, sneezing, chronic cough, chronic congestion, excessive mucus
  • Neurologic: mIgraines, headaches, brain fog
  • Skin: acne, rashes, itchy skin
  • Physical: Joint pain, muscle aches
  • Weight: Inability to gain weight or inability to lose weight

At TYM, we believe it is important to get at the ROOT cause of your symptoms, rather than cover it with a bandaid. We have found that underlying food intolerances negatively impact one’s health to a significant degree. Therefore, we utilize advanced blood tests to understand what foods may be your “daily poison.”

Environmental Allergies

The desert bloom is beautiful, but for many a runny nose, itchy eyes, and continual sneezing episodes ruin the ability to fully enjoy the outdoors. For some, this is not just a seasonal battle, but a year-round reaction to molds, dust, and pet-dander.

Medication offers a relief for some, but a life full of pills comes with a price of unwanted side effects, such as, dry mouth, drowsiness, trouble sleeping, confusion, and more.

From a Naturopathic perspective, environmental allergies are a hyper-reactivity of one’s immune system to a substances that is normally found in our day to day environment. Instead of suppressing the symptoms with medication, our goal is remove the offending agent when possible, desensitize your immune system to the allergen, and control symptoms with natural agents.

We utilize a combination of dietary modification, supplementation, herbs, and homeopathics to relieve your symptoms so that you can enjoy all the outdoors has to offer!
